Welcome to RowHouse!
July 23 - 26, 2008...
What a week! We made our second trip to the emergency room, which I think is doing pretty well for going on 2 years. Robbie, our dishwasher, got scalded badly with boiling pasta water a few minutes before opening Friday night. Looked bad, and I needed to be the one to wisk him off to the Doctor. I left the boys in charge, dishwasherless. They did an awesome job, and I am proud of them all, and Robbie is fine, some cream and some bandaids, and the boss taking over the Dishwashing job for a few days. It's a tough job, if you don't already know this, we don't have a dish machine here in our tiny kitchen. Every plate, from every 6+ course dinner is washed by hand. That's why they always look so good. If you've never read it, Robbie's amusing words on his first year at RowHouse are with everyone elses on the Events page of this site.
Finally produce is really kicking into gear. Tomatoes, Blueberries, Citrus, Herbs....Every plate this week is filled with fruit and veggies. This salad of Blueberries and Bleu Cheese kept the restaurant in Nashville in business, and these are Organic Local Blueberries. Wednesday morning I've arranged to pick up a case of Gorgeous Kansas Tomatoes which are going to be topped with a simple whipped goat's cheese, and oil blended with just picked basil and mint. Baby Spinach and Feta cheese Pie, known as Spanikopita is the Vegetarian Dish. Mahi Mahi is excellent summertime fish, and the salsa Mike makes from fresh pineapple is out of sight. The beef dish is a very traditional and simple, but I thought it would make a nice compliment to the rest of the menu. My first attempt at Banana Cream Pie, the Orange Marmalade Cake should be refreshing, and elegant chocolate dipped strawberries round out dessert.
Have a great week.
Thanks for being here.
