Around RowHouse this week... 

January was awesome in our little kitchen. We stretched ourselves, tried to work out of our comfort zone, and brought many proteins to the table that haven't been see here in these past 10 years.  If I cook like a "Fox", Forrest Wright cooks like a "Wolf"!  I may be clever and quick, he is Bold and fearless.  I think this is going to get more and more interesting.  

This next menu has elements of the RowHouse we've always been nicely shaken up with fresh vision.  Thanks for being here.  Have a great week!  

The Valentine's Menu is posted below and on the menus page of this site.  We do not have any openings for Saturday the 13th or Sunday the 14th, BUT We do have an awesome menu lined up for all the nights leading up to those and all the nights after.  We'd love to see you!  Thanks!

Upcoming Events

  • Tuesday February 23, 2016.  House Concert featuring the touring duo Flagship Romance.  $20 p/person, the event is being held in RowHouse 517 and is limited to 25 guests.  Check them out http://www.flagshipromance.com/#!videos/c1fqx 
  • VeganFest 3, Monday February 29th, 2016.  This is our annual fundraising dinner for the Topeka Rescue Mission. Every dollar that comes in Goes 100% to the Mission. This is a favorite event each year during National Vegan Month.  Great food, Great Cause.  Please join us.  $40 p/person, Multi Course RowHouse style menu but all Vegan!

Our menu Feb 10, 11, and 12, 2016....  

  • Salad:  Strawberries, Candied Pecans, Bleu Cheese, Romaine, Kale, Poppyseed Vinaigrette
  • Appetizer:  Butternut Squash with Toasted Walnut and Green Onion
  • Vegetarian Entree:  Red Potato Latke with Apple, Fennel, and Sour Cream 
  • Entree 2:  Panko Crusted Mahi Mahi, Dill Tartar Sauce, Pea Cous Cous
  • Entree 3:  Port and Mustard Glazed Beef Tenderloin, Sauteed Greens, and Carrots
  • Dessert:  Raspberry and Cream Cheese Coffee Cake
  • Dessert:  Lemon Cream Pie

Our menu Feb 3 - 6, 2016....  

  • Salad:  Apples, Cucumber, Romaine, Kale, Almonds, Creamy Feta Dressing
  • Appetizer:  Hearty Winter Stew with Rosemary and Black Pepper
  • Vegetarian Entree:  Polenta Cake with Roasted Tomato Ragout and Chickpeas
  • Entree 2:  Seared Mahi Mahi with Garlic Mustard and Spicy Coleslaw
  • Entree 3:  Stout Braised Boneless Beef Spare Ribs with Oatmeal Stout Roll and String Beans
  • Dessert:  Cherry and Pineapple Cobbler with Whipped Cream
  • Dessert:  Flourless Chocolate Cake
  • Dessert:  Shortbread Cookie and Sorbet

Our menu January 27 - 30. 2016...  From Chef Forrest Wright

  • Salad:  Cucumber and Winter Melon with Balsamic Pearls
  • Appetizer:  Rabbit Rib stuffed with Fluffed Goat's Cheese and Gooseberry Jam
  • Vegetarian Entree:  Simply Roasted Seasonal Root Vegetables with Lemon Tahini Dressing
  • Entree 2:  Butter Poached Lobster Tail with Sauteed Foie Gras
  • Entree 3:  Beef Tenderloin with a Poached Fig and Port Sauce on Roasted Potatoes
  • Dessert:  Raspberry and Blood Orange Gelato
  • Dessert:  Crepe "Cone" with Frambois Reduction
  • Dessert:  Shortbread Cookie and Sorbet

Dinner at RowHouse is $45 per person.  Our Tasting menu includes a sampling of every item on our menu for the week. Please feel free to choose only one of the entrees and still enjoy the other courses.  We are also happy to make portions more "modest" if you would like.  We do our best to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions. 

Our Extended Valentine's Day Menu, Saturday Feb 13th and Sunday Feb 14th, 2016.... $85 per/person and we do take a $25 p/person deposit at time of booking. Thanks for the great response, we DO NOT have any openings for either of these nights.  

  • First Impression:  Raspberry Flip "Mocktail"  
  • Chef's Tastes:  Dill Cream and Red Caviar / Cucumber and Flowers / Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella
  • Salad:  Mint, Parsley, Romaine, Mango, Queso Fesco, Red Wine Vinaigrette
  • Soup:  Lover's Tomato Dill (No Garlic or Green Onions)
  • Vegetarian Entree:  Ricotta Fritters with Candied Pecans, Sauteed Strawberries, Strawberry Infused Balsamic Reduction
  • Entree 2:  Seared Sea Scallop, Butternut Squash Puree, Apple, Celery, and Pomegranate 
  • Entree 3:  Sliced Beef Tenderloin, Chocolate Rub, Blackberry Sauce, Polenta
  • Entree 4:  Crispy Brown Sugar Pork Belly, Frisee Salad 
  • Sorbet:  Blood Orange
  • Dessert:  Cherry Lavender Cupcake with Butter Cream

When making reservations please know the house has three levels and many unique dining rooms. The main floor is handicap accessible, but the top floor and garden level do have stairs. We try to honor table and floor request but are not always able to do so because of limited space for large groups. If you have a specific table or room you'd like, please let us know when making your reservation and we will do our best to make it happen. We are contantly looking for ways to make your evening with us even better.  One of us is on staff at RowHouse Wednesday through Saturday from 2 pm to Close.  We return calls Wednesday through Saturday in the order received.  

We have a lovely winelist, Premium Liquors, awesome cocktails, and great beers.   
Wine and Alcohol cannot be brought in to the restaurant as of April 1, 2011

  • Tumptim Thai: I can't say enough good thing about their food. Yum!
  • The Blind Tiger: I come from beer people. This is good beer.
  • Chez Yazu: Beautiful, intimate and so French.
  • El Mezcal Topeka Boulevard: Staple: once a week at least.
  • The Celtic Fox:  Give me a Smithwick's
  • Quniton's: Great sandwiches and an amazing tap selection. Love the new bistro burgers! 
  • The Burger Stand:  College Hill Area
  • Encore: Lawrence Secret:  get the Vegan General Tsao's Chicken"

HOLIDAY AND VACATION SCHEDULES

I opened RowHouse recognizing that to stay inspired, I had to schedule breaks to travel and renew.  I want to be able to serve you for a long time to come, so please note that our breaks may sometimes be inconvenient, but in the end they save the day.

  • January:  We are always closed New Year's Day
  • May:  We are always closed the Saturday before Memorial Day
  • June/July:  We take an extended Summer Vacation the week that includes July 4th
  • September:  We are always closed the Saturday before Labor Day
  • November:  We are closed Wednesday before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving day, we re-open for our very popular "Tapas" menu for that Friday and Saturday
  • December:  We are always closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
  • Also note, we are never open on Sundays.  Private events can be scheduled on Monday and Tuesdays with the exception of any of the weeks or weekends listed previously.
